Top 10 Video Player Apps for Android!

The world has seen an increase in video apps for Android. Talk to anyone you know, and they will probably have Hulu, Netflix, and even some YouTube subscriptions. This is how more and more people are consuming their media rather than watching television and paying big bucks for cinema tickets. As technology is getting better, it is becoming much easier to play games like Novoline online and view videos from the comfort of a smartphone or tablet. Most video player programs will also playback files of the most popular codecs without a problem. Here in this article, with no particular order, we are going to run through 10 of the best video app for Android.

1. Allcast

This is a wonderful video player that specializes in sending all of your locally stored content to Apple TV, Chromecast, Xbox 360, Roku, and other devices that are DLNA compliant. Not only does it support videos but many different types of media. We believe it is one of the most stable programs out there. It costs $4.99, but there is a free version that limits content to 5 minutes.

2. Archos

This is one of those must have Android apps because it can support so many different file formats, including AVI, MKV, MP4, FLV, WMV, and many others. It also integrates subtitle files with ease, including SRT and ASS. There are many brilliant features, including USB storage support. We like it particularly because of its modern interface and very simple functionality. You can also get additional information from websites, such as IMDB, integrated into the application. It’s relatively cheap, and if you go beyond that free version, it costs just $0.99.

3. BSPlayer

This application has been around for a very long time. It features hardware-accelerated playback, multicore hardware decoding, and great support for streaming from a DLNA device. We also think that it offers brilliant subtitle support and allows you to play from a variety of compressed formats. You can pay for the full version, costing $5.99, or try the free one, which is ad-supported but still contains every feature. Definitely one of our favorites!

4. Plex

For an app that only costs $4.99 a month, this is a brilliant price considering you’re paying for a server that can handle streaming with ease. If you are running out of space on your phone, Plex is probably what you need. It is quite unique in the way that it doesn’t require you to store any files on your device, allowing you to save it for what you truly need it for. Easy to integrate and jam-packed full of exciting features.

5. LocalCast

You may have heard of AllCast, and this is a competitor to that application. It actually has many of the same functions as AllCast, including the ability to stream media to Xbox 360, Chromecast, Fire Stick, Roku, or Apple TV. You can stream easily from a cloud, and this program has fantastic codec support. A true contender in the market.

6. VLC

This has really become famous all over the world, and the best part about the VLC media player is that it is completely free! It impresses with the number of obscure video formats that can handle, including ISO and DVD. Most of the codecs are actually built into the app, so you will not need to make additional downloads. There are some brilliant features, such as multi-tracking audio and subtitle support. We thoroughly recommend checking it out, especially as it is free.

7. MX Player

This was one of the first programs to support many different formats. MX has since grown to include a multitude of features, including hardware-accelerated playback and gesture controls. We particularly like it because of the subtitle support available, plus there is a child lock if you want to block content from your children. It’s one of those Google Play apps that you won’t want to avoid, especially if kids are using your device.

8. Xender

If you download Play Store app, you can get Xender for free. This is one of those mobile apps which combines file transfer and video playback. It also has brilliant features for sharing movies and music with your friends and family. When we tested it, it really plays almost any file without difficulty. The playback options aren’t super advanced, but it is certainly a robust app that works. Moreover, it goes free of charge!

9. Video Player All Formats

This for $3.99, or, alternatively, you can opt for a free version that has adverts. It is quite a basic app in terms of video playing, but it has wonderful support for almost any video codec. There are many neat features, such as Chromecast support, privacy folders, night mode, and different speed settings. It really does take all the boxes, so it is worth having a look at what it can do for you.

10. Stock Video Players

We’ve been talking all about the top Android apps to go out and download, but have you thought about what kind of stock video player you already have? The chances are that your device will have a great application that can support many video files and formats already on your hands. We’ve seen some brilliant stock video players integrated into mobile phones and computers, so it is worth checking what you have available. Don’t forget, all of these are free as well! See what your stock video player can do before you go out and pay for others.
