It’s strange how celebrities crave attention but also need their privacy sometimes. Anyone who has ever needed to deal with being famous will tell you that there is a lot of work that goes into balancing the hype that comes along with the lifestyle. But why don’t all celebrities get the same amount of hype?

What Are Semi-Famous Celebrities

It seems that some celebrities get more hype than others. Even though we love many of the actors and actresses that are on our favorite shows, the hype and gossip around Nathan Fillion weight gain is significantly lower than that over Kim Kardashian’s outfits or other mundane things she does. Is it because she has more fans? Is she a bigger celebrity? Certainly she shouldn’t be—Nathan Fillion has far more accomplishments to boast of, and he should be more famous for it. However, the fact of the matter is that she’s more famous.

Feeding The Hype

The thing about celebrities that are not in tabloids every other day is that they aren’t feeding the hype. They tend to lead private lives, and keep from doing or saying outrageous things. Celebrities who are famous for absolutely nothing, such as Kim Kardashian, Paris Hilton, or even Nicole Richie, usually jumpstart their career in fame by doing something outrageous—such as leaking a private (X rated) video. Even others that are actually talented may resort to these types of tactics to secure their place in fame. A good example would be Lady Gaga. She is a highly talented singer (as shown by her performance alongside Bradley Cooper, where she also proved to be a good actress), but at the beginning of her career in the music industry she understood fully well that she needed to stand out somehow. That’s where the unusual costumes came in. She fueled the hype around here by wearing increasingly more shocking outfits, even putting on a dress made out of meat once.

Can Someone Be Famous Without Resorting To Such Tactics?

Not everyone needs to feed the hype in order to be famous. Some artists are just that talented—their talent speaks for itself. For all the years of their fame, neither Celine Dion nor Adele ever resorted to these types of tactics. They owe their fame and the hype around them to their hard work and talent alone.

The bottom line is that true talent shines on its own, even if it may need a little hard work and dedication to be successful. Talented celebrities are rarely forgotten, but those who resort to cheap tactics may rise to fame today and find themselves forgotten once they stop their attempt at shocking the public. Artists from decades past may find new fans even now, while those with less talent may only stay relevant for a generation or two. Film buffs still watch Alfred Hitchcock and Steven Spielberg movies. New listeners of rock music still listen to Nothing Else Matters, and Whitney Houston’s I Will Always Love You is just as popular today as it ever was. Untalented celebrities like the Kardashians don’t stand a chance.
