We’ve all watched a movie or read a book and wanted so badly to be a part of the adventure. Even as an adult, you may not be able to help yourself from dreaming of fantasy quests and glory.
Luckily, when you learn how to play Runescape, you open up a whole world of fantasy, adventure fun! This MMORPG is one of the most popular on the internet and even sparked the creation of old-school versions for older fans.
But when you look at that gameplay for the first time, it’s a little overwhelming. Here’s a helpful Runescape guide to getting you started.
After creating your character you’ll be sent to a quick tutorial to get a handle on the game controls and some basic gameplay. But learning doesn’t end when you finish the tutorial.
Post tutorial, you’ll be put on the Path System. Runescape for beginners is easier if you take this path until you run out of options with it. You’ll start building many skills and create a PIN for the bank (so you don’t lose all your gold should you die). You’ll also be guided through your first three quests which will introduce you to combat and magic and set you up with some valuable items.
You can keep following paths that develop certain skills or turn off Path Mode in the Adventure Tab.
Once you’ve left behind the learning phase of your time in Runescape, you’ll have to start coming up with activities for yourself. It’s time to start finding quests appropriate for your skill level!
You can see all the available quests in the Quest Tab where it also details the equipment and experience level you’ll need.
This is helpful, but it’s also fun to go up and start conversations with NPC’s to see what quests you can find that way.
The One Piercing Note quest is a great one for beginners.
Runescape isn’t all about completing quests. Sometimes you can’t get enough experience or skill level from completing quests to do the next one you’re interested in. You’ll need to train your skills on your own.
Training skills basically means having your character do them repeatedly and get better at it. A good skill to train is fishing because as soon as you have too many fish in your inventory, you can also train cooking at the same time.
Having a character with well-rounded skills isn’t always enough though. You’ll also need a good deal of gear for later quests. In order to get the most gear, head over to RunescapeGoldMarkt to get a little spending money for the game with Runescape gold.
If you feel stuck on a quest, don’t hesitate to use the Runescape Wiki. You can find all kinds of tips, guides, and quest tutorials through it. And it isn’t cheating. Think of it as the whole history of Runescape players coming together to work on the game together.
Not everything will be in the wiki right away. New quests get released on special occasions, and you likely won’t be able to find tutorials for those quests for a little while.
We hope you learned something new from this Runescape guide. By following tutorials, branching out to exciting quests, and developing skills you’ll never grow tired of playing Runescape and discovering the world it lives in.
