Chocolates are food item which melts under a specific temperature which will ruin the product and its taste. To take care of this, you should pack your chocolates with extra care and all precautions. While shipping anything can go wrong, if the proper care and precautions are not applied. There are many ways to keep your chocolates save during transportation such as inserters, candy pads etc. To ensure that every chocolate piece stays safe during transportation, you should pack each chocolate individually by butter paper, plastic wrappers, or foil paper. While assembling the packed product in the box, you should cover the gap between them with fillers and soft bundles. There are cooling packs to be included in the transportation boxes to keep the box’s temperature cold, not letting the chocolate loses its flavor by melting. The filling of the box while transporting is called padding. These things fill in the gaps in the box to secure the chocolate in the box. It includes bubble wraps, soft cotton bundles etc. to ship the chocolate the package should contain cooling pads, soft cushioning. The chocolate boxes should be thick enough to handle the weight and take care of the items packed while transporting.

Since it’s the food product it should have fast delivery to the customers. Packed for a long time will ruin the quality of the product. If packing is intact for a long time, there is a chance that the chocolate might melt. So add labels and warning on the box as “fast delivery”. Consider putting your labels with bold letters to be visible enough to see and read clearly. Use a bold marker or a printed paper whichever option is suitable for you. Mention your barcode on the flat side of the box so it should be scan easily. Also, attach a warning of “fragile product” on the box.
Due to its melting disadvantage chocolates should be considered to deliver overnight or in a day. Many courier companies advise the customer to get the delivery done overnight or in a day time. Usually, they charge a bit extra, but that is also economical and beneficial for the product.
Know your Product:
It is suitable to know your product before shipping. Things to know about the chocolate is its ingredients and consistency of each portion. For some chocolates, long-term chocolate packaging and shipping do not affect, but some do ruin quickly. Knowing the ingredients’ texture will give you the idea of its melting point, which will have proper delivery and packing time.
Cold Chocolates: Before packing your chocolates, it is better ‘to put them in the refrigerator as much time as available, this will keep the chocolates stay at a cool temperature for an extended period during transportation. Your packing and other accessories will not hold the chocolates safe unless they are cold during transportation.
Shipping schedule: Choosing the right time according to the address, is beneficial for you and your product. If the address is far, then try to make the shipping schedule according to the route. Manage your transporter temperature process time, packing time and then shipping process. If the destination is not far, then try to complete the transportation process in a day or overnight. When you are making your shipping schedule keeps the occasional holidays and weekends in mind to avoid any inconvenience.
Climate: Your destination climate can be a plus point to your shipping schedule if you are in a cold atmosphere, but it also can be harmful an agent for your product. If the customer’s destination or your destination is in cold areas, then it is easy to maintain and ship your product. But if the weather is not appropriate, then you should try to use every precaution to keep your product safe and cool. By placing ice-cold packs or inserting a cooling fan in your transporter will help you to keep safe your product during transportation.
Suitable packaging: Chocolates can be packedin any boxes, but it’s better to pack them in a box which has the insulated packaging option. There are numerous insulated packaging in the market. Different types of packaging, such as pouches, boxes etc., are available. This insulated packaging will keep your product safe and fresh.
At customer door: Chocolate boxes are often sent to different customers as a gift to someone special. Before heading out, you should know the presence of the customer at the doorstep. As during transportation, sometimes traffic takes more time than expected which is harmful to the product. At reaching customer doorstep, the chocolate should be rushed to keep in the refrigerator before it gets spoiled. So knowing the customer presence beforehand is a benefit for the product and the customer. In case if the customer is not available at the time, then you should leave some extra protection such as insulators which can be of foam or fiber in the package for the product to not get spoiled.
