Whether it is scorching dry heat of northern plains or hot and humid tropical weather in coastal areas, AC’s can cater to all weather requirements. With the middle class of India becoming richer with time, AC’s have become common in most households. But AC is a maintenance-hungry product. So, in this article, let’s talk about various aspects of air conditioners starting from purchase to installation to servicing along with AC installation charges.

Types of Air Conditioners

First, we need to know the type of air conditioners that are available. For home purposes earlier, we had two major types of air conditioners. They are window and split. Nowadays there are some other types as well like we have the tower AC as well as centralized air conditioning systems. All these systems have different modes of setup and costs. Window AC’s are the most primitive kind of air conditioners and still the most common in a middle-income household setting. For most of the initial years of air conditioners’ windows, AC’s had a monopoly on the market.

Window AC and its installation

They are the easiest to install air conditioners as you just need to fix them in an open window with its frame, and you are done. The AC pulls hot air from inside, and the exhaust pushes it out in open air while cold air is blown in. The AC installation  process is very simple and the design is too straight forward, the cost around its maintenance cost is also low in comparison to others. For most of the brands, the installation is mostly free, but for regular maintenance, you will have to pull the AC down for cleaning and then again put it back in the metal frame.

Split AC and its installation

In the past ten-fifteen years, another form of air conditioner has gained popularity, and that is split air conditioners. With growing urbanization and apartment culture, we now have families living in spaces where there are not sufficient windows. Especially in the living room, we have no windows. How to ventilate and keep them cool in summer through a window AC as we have no windows. The answer was split ac. They do not need a window for installation.

A split AC has two parts one is the exhaust unit which has a large fan attached to it, and the second unit is the cooling unit which has all the control units and airflow system. Both are connected using copper pipes for wind flow. For installation, the cooling and control unit is installed in the room with two hooks, and then the pipes run through the wall to the exhaust unit, which is mostly placed open.

The installation is a bit tricky and is more costly than window ACs. Their prices are also higher than window AC’s, but there are multiple advantages with this AC. One is power efficient, and the second saves a lot of space. There are nowadays, more power-efficient versions of split AC’s available which are also called inverter ACs.

Tower AC and its installation

These are new types of AC which are mostly found in areas like gyms, banquet halls, hotels, etc., where a higher volume of air needs to be circulated. The installation for tower AC’s is not very tricky. It has two parts, internal and external. Keep the indoor unit of the AC in any corner of your room, while the outdoor unit is placed outside just like split air conditioners. They cool much better than the above two types.

Centralized Cassette AC

These ACs are replacements of split AC where more cooling is needed. They offer the power of window AC’s but take even less space than split AC’s. Their installation is a bit tricky as they need to be fixed in the ceilings. It’s better to have false ceilings as the AC is better fitted in such space and economizes the overall space of the room. Its installation is costlier than split AC as well because we need false ceilings.

Conclusion:

All in conclusion, we now understand how many types of air conditioners are there and how their installation can happen. We also now know the cost of installation is different for different models but always remember one thing. Whatever kind of AC you buy, you should always go for installation services provided by your brand as they are the ones who can provide you, experienced service engineer who has the best of the knowledge about the AC and how it should be installed.
